Frequently Asked Questions

How does the consultation process work?

We offer a free 20-minute consultation to make sure you feel comfortable and safe before starting regular sessions. This session gives you a chance to ask questions, meet your counsellor, and get a feel for how the counselling process works. It’s an opportunity to see if this approach feels right for you, with no pressure to commit.

How long does the counselling program last?

While everyone’s journey is unique, we generally recommend 6–12 sessions to get the most benefit. This allows time to explore your concerns, develop coping strategies, and make meaningful progress. We can review your goals along the way and adjust the number of sessions to suit your needs.

What is the Integrative Counselling Model and why is it beneficial?

How does online counselling work?

Online counselling is conducted through secure video calls, giving you the flexibility to attend sessions from the comfort of your home. Your counsellor will guide you through the process, ensuring a private and supportive environment. All you need is a device with internet access, and the sessions work much like in-person meetings, with the same focus on your wellbeing.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of counselling. Everything discussed in your sessions remains private, unless there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, in which case your counsellor is ethically and legally obliged to act. Your trust and safety are our top priorities.

The integrative counselling model combines techniques and approaches from different therapeutic methods, tailored to meet your unique needs. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, this model allows your counsellor to draw on strategies that work best for you, whether that’s cognitive-behavioural tools, mindfulness practices, psychodynamic insights, or other evidence-based techniques.

This approach is particularly beneficial because it adapts to you as an individual. It allows for flexibility, addresses your specific concerns, and supports your personal growth in a way that feels natural and effective. Essentially, it meets you where you are and helps you work towards meaningful change in a way that suits you best.

How often will I need sessions?

For most clients, counselling works best when sessions are scheduled weekly, ideally at the same time and day each week. This consistency helps create a safe, supportive routine and allows progress to build steadily. Of course, we are happy to work with you in a way that fits your schedule and needs, but weekly sessions are our recommended approach for the most benefit.
